One of the perks of having our shop in downtown Frederick, MD is all of the great local businesses in the area. Needless to say, we were thrilled when Mark and Laicie founded Dough Uprising bakery earlier this spring and began popping up at nearby farmers markets. Armed with only a rolling pin and a big dream, this Frederick power couple set out to bring fabulous, delicious, seasonal pies to the masses and to break the world of its cupcake obsession.
The menu offerings shift to reflect the seasons, ranging from jammy red plum in the summer to bourbon apple in the fall. Each pie contains over four pounds of fruit and is wrapped in a flaky, all butter crust. Their ingredients are locally sourced and organic which ensures that their pies capture the true flavor of each fruit.
From start to finish, Dough Uprising makes their gorgeous baked goods by hand without the assistance of any processors, mixers, or machines. In addition to pies, they also bake up classic baguettes and breads – but you better get to the market early if you want to grab one before they sell out.
This weekend we are hosting a pie tasting and pre-order event with Dough Uprising at the shop. If you are lucky enough to be in the area, don’t miss out on the chance to meet Laicie and Mark December 20th from 5-7 PM!
