We love a wedding with a bold color palette, especially when it involves ombré shades of purple. Kristen and Brad captured the romantic essence of soft lavenders and radiant orchid on their big day at Strong Mansion. A classic English garden setting was the perfect backdrop for saying “I do” beneath cascades of lilac blooms. Coordinated table linens, dramatic uplighting, and flowing bridesmaid dresses all tied into the color scheme. It all came together on a sunny summer afternoon, read on for tons of gorgeous details from this fabulous outdoor wedding!
The ceremony took place outside at their historic venue, located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland. Kristin’s bouquet had stems of violet veronica cones, pale purple sweet pea, ivory roses, and white hydrangeas tied up with lace ribbon. Her Chantilly lace dress was topped off by a flowing tulle veil that also featured lace details. A waterfall of delphinium and garden roses atop an arbor kept everyone’s eyes on the happy couple as they repeated their vows to each other.
Of course, the mansion’s stunning green doors made a great backdrop for wedding party shots! If you are going with a color as your theme, it is always smart to tie it into bridesmaid dresses like Kristin did. The softly draped gowns flattered all of her attendants and packed some serious purple punch! The groomsmen were a bit more muted in grey suits, but still looked cohesive thanks to lavender plaid ties.
One of the big advantages to having your warm weather wedding outdoors is all of the lush greenery and blooming flowers. The bride’s side swept hairstyle fit in beautifully among the abundant vegetation and organic landscape. Kristin and Brad capitalized on this natural summer decor for some just married portraits, as they spent a few minutes away from the party as husband and wife.
As day turned into night, purple swathed tables and silver chivari chairs were drenched in violet lighting. A large tent formed the reception space, complete with a dance floor and sweetheart table. Centerpieces of dusty miller fronds and pastel purple blooms were set in round silver vases. Our favorite touch was the adorable floral ‘x’ and ‘o’ letters hanging over Kristin and Brad’s seats!
